WESTERN WEDGE: THE REALM OF PROBABILITY?

The Western Wedge project was a collaborative between Deakin University, The Department of Infrastructure and the City of Greater Geelong focusing on an often forgotten part of Geelong's centre. An intensive geronimo workshop was held at Deakin during late October 2001 to investigate a range of 'What If?' scenarios for the Western Wedge and immediate surrounding areas. The results of this workshop were then presented at an official launch of the project in early November in front of local government representatives and stakeholders.

Scenarios ranging from the re-alignment of Western Beach to the creation of widened boulevards and theme-based precincts together with the re-development of the train station area were developed over a 72-hour period and showcase the potential of the Western Wedge and its connectivity to Central Geelong.
