FUNDED

Grants

Building on the professional and government links developed in the Urban Heart Surgery forum has been able to facilitate a doctoral research program in Regional Urbanism. Winning a double APAI (Industrial Partnered) Australian Research Council grant to fund two PhD students, valued at $165,000, the program involves cross-discipline collaboration in three core knowledge bases: socio-economics, demographics and physical infrastructure. Research focuses on developing indicators and benchmarks for assisting local governments in understanding the future needs of their communities. Current partners involve: BERG, the Built Environment Research Group, Deakin; the Planning Departments at both the City of Bendigo and the City of Warrnambool; and CSRC (the Centre for Sustainable Regional Communities) at La Trobe University.
